Jonathan Bean

Jonathan Bean is Professor of History at Southern Illinois University and a Research Fellow at the Independent Institute. His scholarship explores the changing relationships among business, government, civil rights, race, and liberty in the United States.

Bean earned his Ph.D. in business history from Ohio State University. His books include Beyond the Broker State, Big Government and Affirmative Action, and Race and Liberty in America: The Essential Reader.
