Dedra McDonald Birzer

Dedra McDonald Birzer is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the South Dakota Historical Society Press and a lecturer in history at Hillsdale College. Her scholarly interests include the history of the American West, Latin American history, the American family, and women’s intellectual history.

She holds a doctorate in the History of the American West from the University of New Mexico. Her articles and reviews have appeared in popular and scholarly publications, and she is writing an intellectual biography of Rose Wilder Lane. She also hosts the South Dakota State Historical Society’s monthly History Talks series.
